As the snow fell, Emma flipped through picture album after picture album, looking for the right picture. She thought she would never find it, knowing how many picture albums she owned. Her best friend Zoey walked in her Pop-Star themed room.
"Emma, have you found it?" Zoey asked impatiently.
"No, Zoey, I haven't. This COULD take a while. Why do you want a picture from Pre-K anyway, now that we're in 5th grade?" Emma asked, as she found a slip of paper in one of the pages.
"I just...need it. Can I have it when you find it?" Zoey asked. She knew the answer was no just by the look on Emma's face. "Just checking." She knew Emma was a picture freak, and would never give away one of her pictures.
"Zoey, look at this," Emma said as she held the slip of paper up to her. Zoey read it aloud.
"Hello there, Emma. You don't know who this is, and hopefully never will, but I took your Pre-Kl pictures, and if you want them back, you'll have to come get them yourself. Just come to 7943 Malling Drive and make sure to be ready for a long adventure." The two girls looked at each other, and began to pack.
"Remind me again exactly WHY should we do this?" Emma asked. "Is it only because we love adventures?"
"No, not JUST for the adventure. For the pictures. I NEED that picture," Zoey said, counting in her head that this was the the third time she had reminded Emma. Emma sighed and continued packing. She wasn't quite sure what to pack.
"What are you packing, Zoey?" Emma asked.
"I've got 2 complete outfits-except shoes-, a little make-up, some playing cards, my hiking boots, Mr. Banana, a picture of my family-including me-, and last, but not least, my lucky chain. Quite a bit for approximately a three day trip, but, I'm a very good organizer, and I can stuff it all in my duffel bag," Zoey happily announced.
Emma thought for a few seconds, looking around her room. Then she opened her backpack and walked around her room picking things up. A few minutes later she had the things she was going to pack scattered about on her bed. She put item after item in the backpack until her bed lay empty.
"What have you got in there?" Zoey asked.
"Some make-up, all four of my Webkinz, my iPod, my DS Lite, my mini school picture album, 2 complete outfits-with shoes-, a picture of my family-including me- as well, and of course MY lucky chain. Oh, and I too am a very good organizer. OH, and, Zoey, how are we going to leave?"
"Um...walk out the door I suppose..." The confused Zoey said.
"No, I mean, hello! What are we going to do? Say 'Oh hey mom, dad, I'm going on a little journey to some person's house to retreive some pictures'?" Emma said annoyed.
"Don't worry. I've got it all under control. What do you think I've been doing ever since I finished reading the slip of paper? Sitting around like an idiot? Don't think so. Now, let's get this show on the road."
That was awesome how you just got mom and dad to agree like that. Youre goodvery good, Emma said, grasping the doorknob.
Wait, we need our cell phones, Zoey said. The two ran upstairs and rummaged through a few drawers. Emma found her Chocolate Phone in her purse, and decided shed take the purse--that way she wouldnt have to carry her phone in her jeans and risk losing it. Zoey found her Flip Motorola and thrust it in her front corduroy pants pocket and buttoned it, then the two ran back downstairs.
Ah, Sherlock, you forgot something, Emma said.
And what would that be? Zoey asked. Emma opened the front door to reveal a wonderland of soft, cold, white snow.
I suppose you packed outfits for this weather? Ikinda forgot, Zoey said a little embarrassed.
Lucky for you, I just need to take the two flats out, and put another pair of boots in, and then change into boots. I packed clothes on the heavy side, Emma said, walking towards the shoe closet.
Oh snap! Ill be right back, Zoey said, running upstairs to switch out clothes. Emma took the two flats out and put them into her shoe cubby, and took two pairs of snow boots out. One pair she put on and the other she put in her backpack. Zoey ran down the stairs, all ready to go. Emma opened the door, the two grabbed their bikes-which they were going to ride only to the Fill-Up and Shop Stop down the street-, and started pedaling there.
